ActOne ArtsBase runs vibrant all-ability dance, theatre and arts projects all over Hertfordshire and the surrounding area.

We work in inclusive spaces where everybody feels valued. We create inspiring performances of dance and drama with people from all backgrounds, whatever their abilities.

Our goal is to make the performing arts accessible to all, regardless of disability or circumstance. Using this approach, we break down prejudice and barriers to participation for hundreds of young people.

Team News - Eli the Dancing Dog!

Next term we are welcoming a very special new member to the team, Eli! Eli is Lorna’s Canine Partner. He will assist her in all manor of everyday tasks both in the home and at work. Eli is highly trained, will not jump up and is very well controlled. It’s important to note that Lorna is the only person allowed to interact with the dog.

If your child is a little nervous around dogs please feel free to come along to the first session to give them that bit more support. We will also spend time introducing Eli and explaining how to treat him.

We also have quite a few new human additions joining the DanceBase team next term! I’m delighted to say we have found a really talented and enthusiastic dancer Hayley Matthews who will take over from me as Joint Dance Leader at DanceBase Hatfield (alongside Lorna). Amy Locket will be joining the DanceBase Ware team as Support Worker and Charlotte West as Support Worker for DanceBase Hatfield.

Sadly we will be losing Katharine Scambler from the DanceBase team. She has asked me to pass on how much she has enjoyed working alongside all of our wonderful participants and team members. She will be popping in from time to time to cover and to keep up with goings on. She will also continue assisting me with some administration tasks so still very much a vital and committed member of the team.

It has been an absolute pleasure to have been part of the DanceBase Hatfield Team this past term and I know I also speak for Anne who has grown very close to the group. I am sad to lose that regular contact but have every confidence that I leave the group in the very capable hands of a wonderful team. What strikes me the most when I come to both of the DanceBase projects is the warmth, the encouragement and the friendships present within each group. For me that is by far the most important thing that could come out of an activity. Thank you for a lovely term!

Working with ActOne ArtsBase gives me the chance to learn more about myself and those around me, to grow in areas that I am weak and above all to have a lot of fun!
