ActOne ArtsBase runs vibrant all-ability dance, theatre and arts projects all over Hertfordshire and the surrounding area.

We work in inclusive spaces where everybody feels valued. We create inspiring performances of dance and drama with people from all backgrounds, whatever their abilities.

Our goal is to make the performing arts accessible to all, regardless of disability or circumstance. Using this approach, we break down prejudice and barriers to participation for hundreds of young people.

Partnerships/Support

Hertfordshire County Council continues to support all aspects of ActOne’s work both financially and through their invaluable advice and practical support. Particular thanks to Suzanne Rider and Nick Denham.

DanceBase will be funded for the period September 2009 to April 2011 by grants awarded by the Children’s Targeted Services Fund and Hertfordshire Children Schools and Families.

Arts Council England has awarded ActOne £60,000 over the next 2 years for the Development Directors and Artistic Directors salary and for other running costs.
Louise Roberts recently nominated ActOne as her favoured charity to receive a grant from the company she works for, the St Albans branch of AECOM. AECOM give out yearly awards to community groups that their staff are involved with. We were delighted to receive a cheque for £460 which enabled us to buy 2 mobile PA systems.

Since the beginning of the year (January 09) participants, families and friends have raised £2809 through sponsored events, just giving donations, raffles and cash donations! We have the following people to send a big thank you out to for this achievement; Individuals donating to Just Giving, Waitrose St Albans and the Harpenden Scouts Group.

Three Rivers District Council, South Oxhey Extended Schools Consortium, Herts Children Schools and Families and the Broxbourne Play Fund provided the funds for our summer 2009 programme.

ActOne provides highly positive experiences to a great many children and young people. For this to be possible, we need the financial and professional support of companies and public organisations. Sponsors gain positive exposure by associating themselves at all levels in the company. Businesses and charitable organisations have supported single productions by providing props and costume, and made projects possible with financial contributions for transport and participant's fees.
