ActOne ArtsBase is looking to recruit committed volunteers to work on a range of inclusive arts activities for children and young people in Hertfordshire.

ActOne ArtsBase volunteers provide an incredibly valuable service to a great many children and young people that rarely have access to after school activities because of their impairment or circumstance. Without the generous contribution made by our volunteers we would simply be unable to deliver our work. We would love to hear from anyone that is interested in any of the opportunities detailed below or that has any other skills to contribute.

There are lots of opportunities for volunteers professional development. ActOne hold regular in house training sessions and access training in a wide range of useful skills with Hertfordshire County Council. Above all there is a huge sense of achievement that comes from being involved in the life and work of ActOne ArtsBase, a truly unique and inspiring organisation.

ActOne ArtsBase place great importance on the safety of our participants, we therefore undertake a higher level police check and carry out references for everyone involved in our work.

Volunteer Fundraisers

ActOne ArtsBase is under constant financial pressure to raise the funds required to deliver our work. We are always looking for volunteers to support the fundraising effort and would love to hear from anyone that would like to assist.

Volunteer Support Workers for DanceBase Ware and Watford

ActOne ArtsBase is looking for volunteer Support Workers to assist participants to take a full and active role during DanceBase sessions, enabling each individual to realise their full potential and communicate ideas effectively.

DanceBase takes place during term time in Watford on a Wednesday and Ware on a Tuesday. There are 2 age related groups taking place at 5.15pm - 6.30pm for 5 to 12 year olds and 6.30pm - 8pm for 13 to 25 year olds.

Applicants must be over 19 years to apply. They will work well as part of a team and take direction from the project leaders. Good communication skills are essential to supporting participants effectively. Experience of working with young people and of dance is desirable but not essential as training will be given.

A full induction to the work and regular training will be provided.

Volunteer Drivers

ActOne ArtsBase is looking for volunteer drivers to enable disabled children and young people to safely reach weekly dance project 'DanceBase' in Ware and Watford.

Many children and young people would like to attend DanceBase but are unable to do so because their parents do not have access to a car and they are unable to use public transport. We would like to help families overcome this barrier by offering a mini bus service that safely transports children to and from DanceBase sessions. Parent volunteers and ActOne Support Workers will act as chaperones during journeys.

ActOne hires mini buses from the roundabout scheme who provide a full induction to the vehicles. ActOne also organise training in safeguarding children for all volunteers.

Applicants must be between 25 and 70 years to apply and have a full clean driving licence. It is essential that volunteers are highly committed and organised. Experience of working with disabled young people is desirable but not essential as training will be given.

We are also looking for drivers to support other, non regular projects such as our UV Club Nights and Summer Projects. If you would like to contribute your skills but are unable to do so on a regular basis please do get in touch!
