Volunteers and support workers

ActOne ArtsBase is looking to recruit support workers and committed volunteers to work on a range of inclusive arts activities for children and young people in Hertfordshire

ActOne projects integrate disabled and non disabled young people encouraging a positive inclusive environment. Participants work alongside the ActOne team to develop performances for the community and wider area. During these unique sessions young people form new friendships and learn how to work as a team appreciating each others contribution as essential and equally valuable to the process.

The Support Workers role is to assist participants to take a full and active role during sessions enabling each individual to realize their full potential and communicate ideas effectively.

ActOne’s programme of work includes weekly sessions during term times in Harpenden, Hoddesdon and Hatfield, week long holiday projects and one off workshops for the community. Applicants must be over 18 years to apply (including volunteers). They will work well as part of a team and take direction from the project leaders. Good communication skills are essential to supporting participants effectively and experience of working with young people is desirable (no dance or drama experience necessary!)

There are lots of opportunities for training and development within both the support and voluntary roles. ActOne hold regular training sessions for the team and also access training in a wide range of useful skills with Hertfordshire County Council. Above all there is a huge sense of achievement that comes from being involved in the life and work of ActOne ArtsBase, a truly unique and inspiring organization.
